The Julius Set to Debut in Prague in 2022

The Julius Meinl family, European titans of retail and dining, has revealed plans to expand their hospitality influence with the launch of a new long-term stay concept. Dubbed the Julius, the brand draws upon the family’s 160-year legacy of quality and service to embody a timeless standard of European hospitality through a modern lens. The inaugural location, the Julius Prague, is set to open in spring 2022 and will be designed by Milan design firm Matteo Thun & Partners.

“Matteo Thun has been working with the Meinl family on various projects for over 15 years. Our in-depth knowledge of this history, allied to a strong connection with the family, were invaluable in developing the concept, which brings together tradition with contemporary lifestyle design,” the firm says in a statement. “With the Julius Prague, we wanted this historic residence in the center of the city to again become a home, as it welcomes its next generation of visitors.”

The design-driven experience will feature flexible, spacious communal areas, including lounges, coworking areas, and onsite F&B options. All 168 residential-style guestrooms will boast living rooms filled with soft furnishings and separate bedrooms. Many will also include open-plan kitchens. An autumnal color palette will characterize the accommodations’ interiors, complemented by warm elements like oak floors in homage to famed Czech artist Alphonse Mucha.
