New Resort Debuts on the Sea of Galilee in Israel

The Galei Kinneret Hotel has debuted on the coast of the Sea of Galilee in northern Israel. The 123-room luxury concept pulls inspiration from ancient ruins unearthed nearby. Envisioned by London-based Saar Zafrir Design, the property evokes evokes a sophisticated ambiance via a neutral palette and natural materials to further emphasize a soothing sense of place.

“At a location like this, it’s important not to interfere with the scenery, hence why we chose to work with organic shapes and light soft colors,” Zafrir says. “With the design emphasizing its stunning and calm surroundings, Galei Kinneret truly gives the feeling: ‘There is nothing else but me and the lake.’”

Beyond a clean white façade, the Galei Kinneret welcomes visitors into the lobby through a smooth wooden walkway. Custom furnishings punctuate the interiors along with ceramic elements that reinforce the influence of the setting.

Vibrantly refined, the organic onsite eatery was crafted with a natural palette that comprises parquet wood floors, wooden and rattan fixtures, and floral upholstered accents that soften dramatic archways clad with green tiles. An additional outdoor restaurant—overlooking the hotel’s private beach and anchored by an aluminum tree artwork by Israeli sculptor Yuval Lufen and a glass-bottomed swimming pool—is also featured.

Parquet wood floors line each accommodation, complementing off-white wall paneling and a relaxing palette of organic tones. Bathrooms are outfitted with head-to-toe marble detailed with pale veining and golden accents as well.
